Travel Tips

Want to avoid traffic, but still enjoy local Orange County entertainment? Here are a few helpful travel tips to avoid delays:

  • Heading to the beach? Driving to the beach on a weekend can be a nightmare. Luckily, there are options for those traveling to either Laguna Beach or Newport Beach. The Southbound 133 Toll Road from the 5 Freeway, is actually a toll-free route that will take you directly to Laguna Beach. For those traveling to Newport Beach, the 73 Toll Road is a direct connection to the 55 Freeway, which leads directly to the Newport Beach area.

  • Going to the game? If you are heading from South County and want to avoid traffic to the Ducks or the Angels games, consider taking the 241 Toll Road North to Chapman Ave./Santiago Canyon to cut your travel time in half! Alternatively, you can take the Metrolink from your nearest train station to ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center), which stops adjacent to both the Angels Stadium and the Honda Center. Trains depart from ARTIC up to half hour after the games.

  • Visiting Disneyland? If you decide to visit the Happiest Place on Earth but find yourself frustrated with the flood of traffic, you may want to take the 241 Toll Road to Chapman Ave./Santiago Canyon. This route will take you from Chapman Avenue to the Northbound 57 Freeway when you can take Ball Road to the park.

  • Let Your Phone Help You. There are hundreds of apps available to help you not only find the best route to your destination, but also help you find a nearby gas station and the best driving music. We recommend using WAZE or Google Maps to find the best route to your destination, while Gas Buddy will help you find the closest gas station. Pandora and Spotify will allow you to enjoy your favorite music. If you’re looking for music tailored to your driving mood, try Google Play Music.

  • Do you have an account with The Toll Roads? The Toll Roads offer a great alternative for those looking to avoid traffic. The multi-connection highways, allows drivers the opportunity to avoid sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic. In addition, The Toll Roads recently transitioned from cash tolling, to all electronic tolling, which means there is absolutely no stopping when you have places to be! Even if you don’t use toll roads often, their quick-and-easy ExpressAccounts only charge your account when you use the roads and does not require an account minimum.
